Getting into UX: step-by-step 3-month action plan

While getting into UX within 3 months may sound like a myth, having a guideline that provides you with a step-by-step actionable plan would definitely help you stay focused in the job transition that you’re looking for.

So you’re here because you want to get into UX right? After scrolling on your TikTok for-you page, or even watching tons of “how to get into UX within 3 months” videos on Youtube, it just gets more confusing as you’re overwhelmed with information, yet still got no idea how to take the first step.

People say "starting is always the hardest part". And they’re right about that.

A year ago, I was in your shoes - after getting unemployed as my marketing agency shuts down, I knew I have to make the decision to “have my shizz together” and create a sustainable career that I can call my own (definitely not being a freelance graphic designer, I can assure you).

While everyone’s timeline is different, it took me 9 months to get from learning UX from scratch, to landing my first UX full time role (p.s. I got into a short-term startup internship 6 months in). Sounds daunting right? It doesn’t have to be.

This UX checklist helps create a loose structure that you can follow - disclaimer: while it doesn’t 100% guarantee you that you can definitely get a UX job after these 3 months, it’ll definitely help provide you with a clearer direction as you equip yourself with the skills that is required.

The 3-month timescale also helps you set deadlines when you should be reaching the milestones and so, you can always check in with your own progress.
